1. Measurement Check:

  • Confirm the dimensions of the gas range: Ensure that the width, height, and depth of the range will fit into the designated space in your kitchen.
  • Clearances and ventilation: Make sure there’s adequate space for proper ventilation around the range, including distance from cabinets, walls, and the range hood.
  • Doorways and hallways: Measure the doorways and hallways to ensure the gas range can fit through them without difficulty.
  • Pathway clearance: Clear the delivery route by removing any obstacles (furniture, rugs, etc.) from your front door to the kitchen.

2. Gas Line Preparation:

  • Gas supply location: Ensure you have a working gas supply line in the installation area.
  • Shutoff valve: Confirm that there’s a functional shutoff valve within 6 feet of the installation point, and that it’s easily accessible.
  • Gas line compatibility: Make sure your gas line connections are compatible with the new range or that necessary fittings are available.
  • Turn off gas: Before installation, the gas supply should be turned off for safety.

3. Electrical Outlet (if applicable):

  • Check outlet type: Most gas ranges require a 120V grounded, 3-prong electrical outlet for the clock, lights, and igniters. Ensure that the outlet is close to the range’s installation location.
  • Clear access: Ensure the outlet is easily accessible once the range is installed.

4. Ventilation System:

  • Existing ventilation: Verify that your kitchen has proper ventilation (e.g., range hood or vent system) to handle smoke and fumes while cooking.
  • Vent clearance: Make sure that the venting system or range hood meets the manufacturer’s recommendations for your new gas range.

5. Removal of Old Appliance (if applicable):

  • Old range removal: If the delivery team is removing your old gas range, make sure it’s disconnected from the gas line and emptied of any items.
  • Disconnect power and gas: Ensure the power cord and gas line are disconnected before the team arrives if the removal is included in your delivery.

6. Clean and Clear Installation Area:

  • Prepare the installation area: Clean the area where the gas range will be installed and remove any obstacles or debris.
  • Floor protection: Consider placing a protective cover or pad over your kitchen floor to avoid scratches or damage during the delivery and installation.

7. Appliance Handling:

  • Delivery route protection: Lay down floor coverings or cardboard along the path to prevent damage while the delivery team transports the range into your home.
  • Securing pets: Make sure pets are safely secured in another area of the house to avoid interference during delivery.

8. Special Instructions:

  • Access permissions: If you won’t be home for the delivery, make sure to arrange access or have a responsible party available to oversee the process.

9. Verify Delivery Date & Time:

  • Confirm delivery appointment: Double-check the delivery and installation date and time, ensuring someone is present to receive the range.
